Allows simultaneous ventilation and endoscopy of the patient to increase patient comfort and clinician effectiveness
In fiber optic intubation, ET tube can be railroaded orally or nasally along the bronchoscope through the flexible membrane
After intubation, the membrane is pushed inside which allows easy removal of the mask
Membrane guarantees an ideal seal and therefore efficient ventilation before, during and after bronchoscopy
During trans esophageal echocardiolograph, use of Entrox (50% n2o, 50% 02) is ideal for minor procedures where pain is predictable and of short duration; Enthox can be self administered from a conscious patient via the mask; has a rapid analgesic effect and therefore allows pain free insertion of the endoscope through the hole in the membrane
